Why pet hair beats your vacuum

Pet hair is not dirt, it is a hook. Each fibre is barbed along its length and carries a static charge, so every journey your dog or cat takes works the hair deeper into the weave of the carpet and the seat cloth. By the time you attack it with a household vacuum, the loose top layer comes away and the woven layer stays exactly where it is, which is why the car never quite looks clean no matter how long you spend on it.

The fix is not more suction, it is agitation. We work the fibres loose with rubber blades and brushes that grip hair the way the carpet does, then extract, then repeat until the pile gives up what it is holding. It is slow, physical work, which is exactly why it is worth paying someone to do at your kerb rather than losing a Saturday to it.

Dogs, cats, boots and seat rails

Dog cars and cat cars fail in different places. Dog hair collects where the dog travels: the boot, the boot lip and tailgate seals, the back bench and the backs of the front seats. Cat hair goes everywhere the static takes it, which usually means the headliner, the parcel shelf and places you would swear the cat has never been. We also clear the spots owners miss: seat rails and runners, under the seats, seatbelt webbing and the gap between bench and backrest.

Boot liners get taken out and done separately on both sides, because hair migrates underneath them and quietly fills the carpet below.

What to expect, honestly

A regularly cleaned car that carries pets comes back looking like the pets never travelled. A car that has carried the same dog for eight years without a deep clean comes back transformed, but a small number of fibres woven right into the base of the pile can outlast any tool that stops short of replacing the carpet. If your car is in that state we will say so at the start, not after you have paid.
