Areas we cover
If you have not noticed yet, you soon will. Bromley Council made new orders in July 2026, and since 10 August the Beckenham zone, BEC, has run Monday to Sunday from 8.30am to midnight, up from 8pm. The longer hours cover the no waiting restrictions, the on-street bays and the shared-use bays. It is a long way from the council's 2012 parking review, which first proposed a town centre zone of Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm, and noted that evening trade might one day justify more.
Off-street, the council runs Village Way multi-storey, with 278 spaces, and Fairfield Road, with 98, both open 24 hours. Round Clock House station, the council has also consulted on extending zone Z1 by bringing in roads from zone Z2. So more Beckenham streets may come under controls.
Two good things for you. First, you never need to buy anything for us: your washer sorts their own parking. Second, if your car lives on a drive, none of this applies at all. The car stays put, the washer brings everything, and an outside wash happens whether you are in or not.
Kelsey Park is Beckenham's back garden. Its two lakes were made by damming The Beck, a formal garden with a lake appears on a map from the 1740s, and the Upper Lake is home to wildfowl and a heronry. That is lovely for a walk and less lovely for a car parked under the trees nearby: bird droppings are acidic and start to mark paint if they are left. A regular outside wash, or a spray wax in between, keeps on top of it.
Beckenham is also a commuter town. Beckenham Junction is both a railway station and a tram stop, with Southeastern trains towards Victoria, and Clock House and Elmers End are in BR3 too. If your car spends the working day parked near a station, it can be washed there, as long as it is legally parked and the washer can reach it.
Bromley Council's £4.4 million scheme with TfL repaved the High Street from Beckenham Junction to the war memorial roundabout, with new crossings, lighting, trees and benches, and rebuilt the planters on Beckenham Green.
South of the town centre, Eden Park sits between Elmers End and West Wickham, and BR3 reaches beyond Bromley into parts of Lewisham and Croydon. We cover the whole district, whichever council collects your bins.
How it works
Local life
Beckenham has a strong local scene, and its residents stand up for it. These are the places and causes people are talking about.
Formed in 1997 after a residents' meeting about the park, the Friends now have around 600 member households, run an information centre by the Manor Way entrance, help with a monthly bird count and lead bat and dawn chorus walks.

The Grade II listed Art Deco cinema on the High Street opened as the Regal in 1930. Citygate Church bought the building in July 2026, the cinema is due to close at the end of the year, and a Save Our Screen campaign is working to keep it a cinema.
A food and farmers' market every Sunday from 10am to 3pm on Beckenham Hill Road, with local producers selling what they make or grow.

The Mytime Active leisure centre on Beckenham Road has two pools, a two-floor gym and a cycle studio, open until 10pm on weekdays.
Beckenham Place Park, run by Lewisham on the borough edge, has London's first purpose-built swimming lake, 285 metres long, open for pre-booked swims and paddle-boarding.

Bromley is London's least densely populated borough, according to the ONS. In a town of commuters and families, that means a lot of cars parked at home all day, which is exactly where we come to them.
More on this: why bird droppings and sap damage paint and is ceramic coating worth it?
