Car interior cleaning in Stevenage

Open the door of a Stevenage car in November and you get the whole year at once: Fairlands Valley on the mats, Monks Wood in the boot, a summer of crumbs under the child seat and a faint note of wet dog that has stopped being faint. The inside is the part of a car that a wash never touches and the part the people in it live with. Yikes cleans it where the car sits, in the garage court, the parking square or on the drive, through a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network who brings the vacuum, the steam, the shampoo and the power to run them.

What gets in

Woods, lakes, the school run and the 07:12 to King's Cross

The Woodland Trust ranks Stevenage among the best places in Britain for access to large woodland, with almost every resident within four kilometres of a wood over two hectares, and Fairlands Valley has twenty acres of open water in the middle of town. It is a wonderful place to live with a dog and a terrible place to keep a car's carpets clean. The footwells carry the walks, the boot carries the dog, and the sailing centre and the lakes add the damp that turns into a musty cabin by February. The Full Interior Detail is built for this: the hair lifted from the seats and the boot carpet with the right tools rather than a vacuum nozzle, the fabric shampooed and extracted, the steam taking the smell out of the fibres rather than masking it, and a protectant on the plastics and the fabric so the next walk is easier to clean up after.

The commuter's car

Stevenage station is 27.6 miles from King's Cross and the town's cars do the station run in the dark for half the year. A car used for twenty minutes twice a day collects a different mess: coffee in the cup holders, a week of receipts in the door pockets, the glass filmed on the inside from heated breath on cold mornings, and a layer of fine dust on the dash that only shows in low winter sun. The Deluxe Interior is the right job for it, every couple of months, with the inside glass done so the low sun on the A602 stops being a problem.

Flats, courts and squares

A fifth of Stevenage's homes are flats, 38 percent in Bedwell, and most of the terraces have their parking in a Radburn court behind the houses. An interior clean needs only the doors open and a metre of space on each side, and the washer brings the power, so a court bay, an undercroft space or a parking square works as well as a drive. Put the court's name in the notes so the washer finds the right car.

When to book it

After the salt, after the summer, before the fireworks

Hertfordshire grits its priority routes from October to April, and the salt walks into the cabin on shoes and sets into the carpets as pale tide marks that a vacuum spreads rather than lifts. A shampoo and steam in April takes the winter out of the car. A second one in September takes out the summer: the sand from a holiday, the ice cream, the grass from Fairlands Valley. In between, the Essential Interior, a vacuum and the glass, is the quick tidy for a car that gets a lot of use.

The clocks went back on 25 October and an interior clean does not need daylight, but shampooed carpets dry faster in a morning window, so take one. The town's free fireworks at Fairlands Valley were on 5 November last year, and the car parks fill early that evening, which makes the day before a good one to have the car cleaned at home and the day after a bad one to have it full of damp coats.

What's happening in Stevenage

Updated 25 October 2026

  • Hertfordshire's gritters are on standby until the end of April. Salt comes into the cabin on wet shoes and sets into the carpets; a shampoo lifts it, a vacuum spreads it. (Hertfordshire County Council: gritting the road)
  • The clocks went back on Sunday 25 October. An interior clean does not need daylight, but a morning window gives shampooed carpets the afternoon to dry. (GOV.UK: when the clocks change)
  • The Fairlands Valley fireworks were on 5 November last year with gates at 6.30pm; the 2026 date was not yet published when we checked. Have the car cleaned the day before, not the day after. (Stevenage Borough Council: firework display)

Stevenage questions

Good to know

Will the washer come to a garage court behind my house?
Yes. Interior work needs the doors open and a metre each side, and the power comes with the washer. Add the court's name and your bay to the booking notes.
Can you get the dog smell out?
Yes. Steam lifts the cause out of the fabric rather than covering it, and the protectant slows it coming back. A dog that rides in the boot every week will need it again in a year, which is the dog, not the clean.
Does rain stop an interior clean?
No. The job is inside the car. Only the drying time changes, which is why a morning window suits winter bookings.
Do I need to be in?
At the start of the window, to unlock the car. After that the washer gets on with it and the photographs and receipt arrive when it is done.
Full Interior Detail or Deluxe Interior?
The Full Interior Detail for anything that has soaked in: dog, damp, stains, smells. The Deluxe Interior for a car that is used a lot and wants a proper refresh of every surface.
Is it the same price as in London?
Yes. One booking page, one set of prices, and Members Club takes 20 percent off.
Do you need my water or electricity?
No. Your washer brings water, power and all the kit, so there is nothing to connect or set up. A flat, a terrace, a drive or a village street all work.
Do I need to be in?
Not for an outside only wash, as long as the car is where you said it would be and the washer can reach it. For anything that includes the inside, someone needs to unlock the car.
Who will wash my car?
In Hertfordshire your wash is done by a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network. You book and pay through Yikes at the usual prices, the washer checks in at the car and takes before and after photos, and your receipt and wash report come from Yikes.
Do you wash vans and larger vehicles?
Yes. Vans and larger vehicles cost a little more because they take longer, and the booking page prices it for you. For several vehicles at once, see our fleet page.
