Yes, Yikes Car Wash now covers West Drayton and Yiewsley, the two towns either side of the Great Western Main Line where the Elizabeth line has set off a building boom. We clean cars where they are parked: in the bays under the new blocks by the station and along the canal, at the kerb on Yiewsley High Street's side roads, on the drives of the mid century semis that make up most of West Drayton, and out towards the Colne. Book online, pick a two hour window, and a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network comes with water, power and kit.

Parking reality
West Drayton was a parish of 984 people in 1901 and a ward of 18,433 by 2021, and most of its housing is mid 20th century: semis with drives, south of the railway, north of the M4. Yiewsley, north of the line, is older and tighter, a chapelry of Hillingdon parish that grew along the High Street and the Grand Union Canal where it turns east towards London. Between them the station has become an Elizabeth line stop, and the result is a wave of flats. Hillingdon approved 433 homes on the Rainbow and Kirby industrial estate by the canal, in blocks of three to eleven storeys with 35 percent affordable; 158 homes and a food store on the old Morrisons site on Yiewsley High Street; 105 homes and a community hub on Tavistock Road by the station; and the council's own 95 affordable homes at Otterfield Road and Falling Lane with a new library, the Otterfield Road block due to finish in autumn 2026. More than 240 homes have already gone up behind West Drayton High Street on the old Dairy Crest land.
So a car here is one of two things: on the drive of a semi, which is the easiest wash there is, or in an allocated bay under a new block, where it needs a washer who brings everything and can get through the barrier. Both are what we do. Hillingdon's permits, where streets are zoned, are virtual and cost £92.40 a year for a first car from April 2026; your washer sorts their own parking either way.
What this corner does to a car
West Drayton's centre is 1.9 miles north of Heathrow, and junction 4 of the M4, the airport spur, is on its doorstep. A car parked here gets the fine black film of jet exhaust and motorway brake dust, the same deposit as Hayes and Harlington. To the west the Colne Valley Regional Park, the River Colne, the Frays River and the Pinn, the lakes and the canal bring birds and damp, and Stockley Country Park's 274 acres bring leaf fall and sap on the eastern side. Site dust from the new blocks around the station is the extra ingredient for the next few years.
None of it is a problem if it is washed off every few weeks; all of it marks if it sits for a season. Your washer rinses before anything touches the paint, cleans the wheels separately from the body, and photographs the car before and after so you can see the difference from your flat.
How it works
Local life
A canal junction, a country park on a former tip, two rivers and a county boundary. These are the places that shape a week here.
The Grand Union Canal climbs over the Chilterns through 52 locks and turns east at Yiewsley for London; half a mile north, the five mile Slough Arm leaves the main line at Cowley Peachey, crossing the Frays River and the Colne on aqueducts.

On Yiewsley's eastern side, 274 acres of parkland with a network of footpaths, reclaimed from the gravel pits and tips that Stockley Park's offices also stand on. The hamlet of Stockley was called Starveall until 1912.

West of Yiewsley the River Colne is the boundary with Buckinghamshire, with the villages of Iver, Richings Park and Thorney beyond, and the confluence of the Frays River and the Pinn among the lakes.

West Drayton was Draegtun in 939 and Draitone in Domesday; the West was added, it is thought, to tell it apart from Drayton near Ealing. The parish covered 3.4 square kilometres and had 984 people in 1901.

West Drayton station is served by the Elizabeth line between Abbey Wood and Reading and by Great Western stopping trains to Paddington, which is why developers want to build flats within a three minute walk of it.

Construction started in April 2025 on 45 council homes at Otterfield Road and 50 at Falling Lane in Yiewsley, with a replacement library, the Otterfield Road site due to finish in autumn 2026.

The 2021 Census counts 18,433 people in West Drayton ward and 12,406 in Yiewsley. Yiewsley is the denser of the two: 46 percent of homes flats, 37 percent owner occupied, a third privately rented and 70 percent of households with a car. West Drayton is 38 percent flats, 46 percent owner occupied and 77 percent car owning, with 30 percent of households running two or more. The new blocks will push both towards flats for years to come.
