Yes, Yikes Car Wash now covers Hillingdon itself, the village that gave the borough its name, along with Hillingdon Heath, Colham Green and Cowley down to the Colne. These are the 1920s and 1930s streets between Uxbridge and Hayes, planned in one rush of building after the Metropolitan line arrived, and almost every house has a drive. We clean the car on it, or at the kerb if that is where it lives. Book online, pick a two hour window, and a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network comes with water, power and kit.

Parking reality
Hillingdon was an ancient parish that once included the market town of Uxbridge, and in the 1920s it bore a rapid, planned increase in population and housing before being absorbed into Uxbridge Urban District in 1929. What that left is a suburb of semis with drives and garages along the Uxbridge Road and the roads off it, and the figures show it: Hillingdon East ward has 83 percent of households with a car and 42 percent with two or more, with two thirds of homes owner occupied and only 18 percent flats. Hillingdon West and Colham and Cowley are a little denser, with a third of homes flats and three quarters of households car owning.
The exception to the easy parking is the hospital. Hillingdon Hospital on Pield Heath Road is to be rebuilt by Laing O'Rourke, with the trust's November 2025 timetable putting contractor onboarding in 2026, construction from 2028 and first patients in 2032, and a planning application to be resubmitted along the way. The streets around it already carry staff and visitor parking, and they will carry a building site next. Where streets are zoned, Hillingdon's permits are virtual and cost £92.40 a year for a first car from April 2026.
For most of Hillingdon and Cowley, the car is on your own drive and nothing has to move. Near the hospital, your washer sorts their own parking and works at your car where it legally stands. Either way, you do not need a visitor voucher.
What this corner does to a car
The A40 Western Avenue was rerouted in the early 1990s to run north of its old line, so that traffic could flow without stopping at Hillingdon Circus; the tube station had to be demolished and rebuilt for it. The result is a motorway standard road along the top of the neighbourhood, and brake dust and film on every car parked within a few hundred yards of it. To the south, Cowley's edge is the Colne and Uxbridge Moor, green belt and river, with the damp and the birds that go with water. In between are the street trees of a 1920s suburb, which means sap in summer and leaves from October.
None of it is a problem if it is washed off every few weeks; all of it marks if it sits for a season. Your washer rinses before anything touches the paint and photographs the car before and after, and a ceramic coating gives a newer car two years of protection against the lot.
How it works
Local life
A Domesday village with sixteen listed buildings, a parish that named a borough, and a rebuilt tube station. These are the places that shape a week here.
Hillingdon appears in Domesday as Hillendone, hill of a man named Hille, or possibly a woman named Hilda. The parish was split in 1894 into Hillingdon West, which went with Uxbridge, and Hillingdon East, which kept its own parish council until 1928.

Cowley's church was recorded in Domesday within a parish owned by Westminster Abbey, worth two pounds a year to its lord in 1066. The village has sixteen listed buildings and its earliest written record is from 959.

Along the road between Uxbridge and Yiewsley, north of the Iver Lane turning, lay the village once known as Cowley Street. The parish was so intermixed with Hillingdon that parts of it were entirely detached from the rest.

When the A40 was moved in the early 1990s the old Hillingdon tube station was knocked down and a new one built, which is why Hillingdon has one of the newest stations on the Metropolitan line.

Cowley's western edge is Uxbridge Moor in the green belt, with the River Colne as the boundary with Buckinghamshire. Part of the Moor is now the M25.

Hillingdon Hospital is to be rebuilt with 484 to 489 beds. The trust has partnered with Laing O'Rourke, with construction due from 2028 and the first patients in 2032.

The 2021 Census counts 15,804 people in Hillingdon East, 9,690 in Hillingdon West and 19,135 in Colham and Cowley. Hillingdon East is drive country: 83 percent of households have a car, 42 percent have two or more and 66 percent own their home. Colham and Cowley is a third flats and 27 percent privately rented, with three quarters of households car owning. Across the three wards the semi with a drive is the typical home, which is the easiest wash there is.
