Yes, Yikes Car Wash now covers Uxbridge, the end of the Metropolitan line and the civic heart of Hillingdon. We clean cars where they are parked: in the car parks under the flats around the Chimes and the Pavilions, at the kerb in the Victorian streets between the High Street and Brunel, on the drives towards Hillingdon Hill, and by the old mills on the Colne where the town meets Buckinghamshire. Book online, pick a two hour window, and a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network comes with water, power and kit.

Parking reality
Uxbridge is where Hillingdon keeps its civic centre, its shopping and its university, and it parks like it: multi storeys at the Chimes and the Pavilions, the council's own car parks, and streets around them under permit control. The ward is 43 percent flats and only 69 percent of households have a car, the lowest in the borough after Hayes Town, because a good part of Uxbridge is students at Brunel and people who moved here for the tube. Where a street is zoned, Hillingdon's permits are virtual and cost £92.40 a year for a first car from 6 April 2026, £132.90 for a second, and the 2026 to 2027 budget consultation proposed steep rises in the borough's car parks on top.
The centre itself is being rethought. The council's Cabinet adopted the Uxbridge Town Centre Vision in July 2025, with 73 percent of consultation respondents in support: the Civic Centre forecourt is to become a public space for markets and events, St Andrew's roundabout is to be redesigned to link Dowding Park to the centre, disused sites are to be repurposed and new homes explored. In March 2026 Buckinghamshire New University bought the former Uxbridge Library on the High Street as part of that. It all means change on the ground, and for a while, dust.
You do not need a visitor voucher for us. Your washer sorts their own parking and works at your car, in its bay under the block or at the kerb in the zone. If the bay is behind a barrier or down a ramp, the notes on the booking tell your washer how to reach it.
What Uxbridge does to a car
The A40 Western Avenue runs along the north of the town, and the roads that feed it, Hillingdon Hill and Park Road and the Oxford Road, carry a town centre's worth of traffic, so brake dust and film are the standard deposit. The Colne and the Frays River along the western edge bring damp and birds; Uxbridge Moor and the green belt beyond bring leaf fall. South of the centre, Hillingdon Hospital is to be rebuilt: Laing O'Rourke is the partner, the timetable published in November 2025 has construction starting in 2028 and first patients in 2032, and the streets around Pield Heath Road will live with that for years.
A regular outside wash every few weeks takes it all off before it marks. Your washer rinses before anything touches the paint, cleans the wheels separately from the body, and photographs the car before and after, so you can see the difference from the flat.

Local life
A Saxon bridge, a Civil War treaty that failed, the bunker that won the Battle of Britain and a university on the old RAF land. These are the places that shape a week here.
The name comes from the bridge of the Wixan, a 7th century Saxon tribe from Lincolnshire, at the bottom of Oxford Road by the Swan and Bottle, where a modern bridge still stands. The town is not in Domesday but appears as Woxbrigge in 1107.

Uxbridge ward had 17,962 people in 6,412 households at the 2021 Census. It is a town of flats and renters by Hillingdon standards: 43 percent of homes are flats, 29 percent are privately rented, half are owner occupied and 69 percent of households have a car, with only a quarter running two. Hillingdon as a whole is 31 percent flats and 78 percent car owning. The students at Brunel and the commuters at the end of the Metropolitan line are a large part of the difference.
