Mobile car valeting across Medway and North Kent

From Dartford to Sittingbourne and down to Maidstone, a valet from Yikes means a washer comes to the car rather than the car going to a forecourt: the outside washed, wheels and glass done, the inside vacuumed, wiped and dressed, in one visit on the drive, in the close or at the kerb. The washers are vetted local valeters from the Yikes Network, they bring water and power, and Yikes takes the booking, the payment and the photos. One booking page, one set of prices, from the Thames at Greenhithe to the Downs above Maidstone.

Why a valet, and why at home

The county that commutes, and the car that shows it

North Kent is commuter country. The A2 and the M2 carry Gravesend, Medway and Sittingbourne towards London and the Dartford Crossing every morning, the M20 does the same for Maidstone and the Malling villages, and the Crossing itself charges £3.50 a car each way between 6am and 10pm. Every one of those journeys leaves brake dust on the wheels and a grey film on the paint, and every evening the car comes home to a drive on a chalk slope or a street with the estuary air on it. Inside, it is the school run, the dog, the weekend walk on the Kent Downs, which became a National Landscape in November 2023 and covers a quarter of the county, and in summer the sand from Sheppey and the Thames beaches.

A valet at home answers both halves at once. The Deluxe Inside & Out is the full one: outside, a two bucket wash with a rinse before anything touches the paint, wheels and arches cleaned separately, tyres dressed and glass finished; inside, seats, carpets and boot vacuumed, plastics wiped and dressed, inside glass done, sills and door shuts cleaned. The Essential Inside & Out is the lighter habit for a car that is done every few weeks. Either way the car does not move, nobody queues on a retail park, and the before and after photos arrive on your phone.

Bluewater's 13,000 spaces are not the point

Bluewater opened in 1999 in a chalk quarry at Greenhithe with 13,000 free parking spaces, and half of North Kent is there on a wet Saturday. The hand car wash on the way home is the other Saturday habit, and the valet on the drive is what replaces it: the same hour, spent at home, with the car done properly rather than quickly.

When to book it

Salt season across Kent, and the twice a year treat

Kent County Council's gritters treat about 30 percent of the county's roads on their primary routes, every A and B road among them, with 60 salting vehicles and 23,000 tonnes of salt in stock, and the 2023 to 2024 season ran from 20 October to 19 April. Medway runs its own service from mid October to mid April. For six months, then, every car in North Kent is driving on salt, and a valet every four to six weeks is the habit that keeps it off the paint and out of the carpets. In summer the interval stretches to six or eight weeks, with the sap and the chalk dust the things to watch.

Twice a year the Deluxe is not enough: once after the salt in April and once after the summer in September, the Super Valet adds a wax and a proper interior restoration. For a car that has been neglected for a year, the Deep Clean is the honest first booking. And the week before a car is sold or goes back to the lease company, the valet is the cheapest thing you will do to its price.

North Kent cars, and the valet that suits each

North Kent's housing runs from the terraces of Gravesend and Chatham to the drives of Dartford's villages and the big plots on the Downs, and the cars follow. Medway alone has 1.35 cars a household and 40 percent of households with two or more; Ebbsfleet Garden City has passed 5,000 new homes between Dartford and Gravesend, every one with a newer car on a newer drive. Here is the valet each one needs.

  • The commuter car on the A2 or the M20: Essential Inside & Out every few weeks, the brake dust and film kept off.
  • The family SUV after the Downs: Deluxe Inside & Out, with the mud vacuumed out of the footwells.
  • Two cars on a Longfield or Larkfield drive: both in one booking, done together.
  • A newer car on an Ebbsfleet drive: Deluxe Inside & Out now, a ceramic coating before the first winter.
  • A terrace in Gravesend with the car at the kerb: Essential Inside & Out in your own space.

What's happening across North Kent

Updated 25 October 2026

  • Kent's gritters have been on standby since October and Medway's season runs to mid April. A valet every four to six weeks keeps the salt off the paint and out of the carpets. (Kent County Council: gritting routes)
  • The clocks went back on Sunday 25 October, so it is dark before 5pm. A Deluxe valet takes about an hour; pick a window that starts by 2pm. (GOV.UK: when the clocks change)
  • The Dart Charge is £3.50 a crossing for a car from 6am to 10pm. A car valeted at home on a Saturday is a car that did not cross the river to a hand car wash. (National Highways: Dart Charge price change)

Medway and North Kent questions

Good to know

Which towns do you valet in?
Across Medway and North Kent: Gravesend, Northfleet, Dartford, Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Longfield, the Medway towns, Sittingbourne, Sheppey, Maidstone, the Malling villages and up to Sevenoaks. The postcode finder on the region page lists every district.
Is a valet the same price in Gravesend as in London?
Yes. Every North Kent booking is on the same page at the same prices, and Members Club takes 20 percent off.
Do I need to be in?
Yes, for anything that includes the inside: someone needs to unlock the car at the start of the window. For an outside only Deluxe Exterior, no.
Can you valet two cars in one visit?
Yes. Add both cars when you book and your washer does them together, each with its own before and after photos.
Can you come to a village on the Downs?
Yes, if a Network washer covers it, which the booking page checks when you type the postcode. Your washer parks where they can and carries the kit to the car.
How often should a North Kent commuter car be valeted?
Every four to six weeks through the salt season, October to April, and every six to eight weeks the rest of the year.
Do you need my water or electricity?
No. Your washer brings water, power and all the kit, so there is nothing to connect or set up. A flat, a terrace, a drive or a village street all work.
Do I need to be in?
Not for an outside only wash, as long as the car is where you said it would be and the washer can reach it. For anything that includes the inside, someone needs to unlock the car.
Who will wash my car?
In Medway and North Kent your wash is done by a vetted local washer from the Yikes Network. You book and pay through Yikes at the usual prices, the washer checks in at the car and takes before and after photos, and your receipt and wash report come from Yikes.
Do you wash vans and larger vehicles?
Yes. Vans and larger vehicles cost a little more because they take longer, and the booking page prices it for you. For several vehicles at once, see our fleet page.
