Stevenage has had an industrial area since the Development Corporation zoned Gunnels Wood between the railway and the A1 in the 1950s, and today it holds everything from GSK's research campus and Airbus's satellite halls to the courier depots and trade yards that keep the town running. Every one of those sites has vans, and every van is a sign for the business written on the side. Yikes keeps them legible, washed where they park, through vetted local washers from the Yikes Network who bring water and power and work through the whole list in one visit.

What is included
Where the vans are
The yards along Gunnels Wood Road, Cavendish Road and the Pin Green industrial area are the fleet end of town: couriers, builders' merchants, facilities contractors and the pool cars of the big employers. A washer comes to the yard, the vans are added to one booking by size, and the Essential Exterior on each keeps the liveries readable through a winter on the A1(M). Cabs get the Essential Inside & Out every other visit, which is cheaper than losing a driver to a cab nobody wants to sit in.
The £1bn Station Gateway began on the Oval on 30 January 2026, the indoor market is being turned into a college campus, and the town centre is a building site for the rest of the decade. Site vans here carry cement dust in the air and mud at the gate, and the Deluxe Exterior, with its deeper wheel and arch clean, is the right fortnightly wash rather than the Essential. A compound with no tap is fine; the washer brings the water.
Stevenage is a town of terraces with garage courts behind them, and the plumber in Chells or the electrician in Shephall parks the van in the court, not on the road. That is where it gets washed: the driver books it like any other wash, the business pays, and the photographs go to the phone that booked. The borough now fines verge parking in most New Town neighbourhoods, so the court or the drive is where the van needs to be anyway.
How it works
The person who looks after the vans is the person who books. On the booking page, the yard's postcode goes in first and the page confirms that a Network washer covers it; then each van is added with its size, a window is chosen, and the whole lot is paid for in one go. A long wheelbase van takes longer than a Caddy and is priced accordingly, with every size shown on screen before the card goes in. On the day the washer turns up with their own water and their own power, so a compound with neither is no obstacle, and takes a before and an after of every vehicle. Accounts get a single receipt naming each van; the fleet manager gets the photographs, which settle the argument when a driver insists the dent was there last week.
Hertfordshire's gritters are out from October until the end of April, which makes the two weekly outside wash a six month commitment rather than a single tidy up; through the summer a monthly visit holds the line. A standing plan across more than one yard is explained on the fleet page. A single van just gets booked. Since the clocks went back on 25 October, the 10am window is the one that has the fleet finished before the drivers come back for the afternoon runs.
