Yikes Car Wash is a mobile car wash founded in 2023. In Maida Vale we cover the mansion-block avenues, Little Venice and the canal-side streets, and the Warwick Avenue and Randolph Avenue ends of W9, plus the rest of London, Cardiff and Southampton. A rider comes by cargo e-bike, zero emissions on the journey, and washes the car in its bay using about a quarter of the water of a typical mobile wash. The flats are the reason. A house with a drive can rinse its own car on a Sunday; a mansion block on Elgin Avenue cannot, and the residents' bays outside are controlled tightly enough that nobody drives off to queue at a jet wash and gambles on a space being there when they return. The cargo e-bike ends the gamble. It pulls in beside the car, needs no bay of its own, and the car never surrenders its spot.
Then there are the trees. The planes and limes that make Sutherland Avenue and the canal so handsome spend the summer dropping sap and honeydew on everything parked beneath them, and by Little Venice the waterfowl make their own contribution. Caught on a regular gentle wash it all rinses away; left for a month it starts to etch.
The core visit is a fresh-water hand wash with clean mitts, and the menu builds from there: interiors vacuumed with plastics done, a Full Interior Detail with shampoo and steam for the family wagon, and an Exterior Detail with clay and decontamination when canal-side paint has gone rough under the fallout. Mobile detailing in Maida Vale is mostly a running argument with trees, and we enjoy winning it.
