The avenues between the High Road and Queen's Park are handsome, tree-lined and permit-controlled, and the High Road itself is one of the busiest bus corridors in London. Driving out for a wash means losing a space in one borough and queueing through another.
A Yikes cargo e-bike does the journey instead: zero emissions on the way, everything needed on board, and a wash that uses about a quarter of the water of a typical mobile wash. The car never leaves its bay, and you get texts on the way and on completion.
Queen's Park and the avenue planes keep NW6 shaded and sticky: sap and honeydew from May onwards, bird mess wherever branches overhang bays. Along the High Road, brake dust from the bus queue builds a grey film on nearby cars. Both wipe away harmlessly when washed regularly, and etch when ignored.
