N10's Edwardian avenues are wide, leafy and lined with cars that work hard on the school run. What they lack is anywhere sensible to get washed without a trip down to the North Circular and back. Our riders climb the hill instead: everything the wash needs is on the bike, the car stays on Queens Avenue or wherever it lives, and the journey to you produces zero emissions.

It is a wash that suits the area's instincts too: about a quarter of the water of a typical mobile wash, no runoff flooding the famously steep gutters, and a careful hand finish on paintwork.

What the hill and the trees do to paint

Muswell Hill cars collect the classic leafy-street mix: lime and plane sap from May, bird mess under every avenue tree, and autumn leaf stains on bonnets. The hills add brake dust: the descents to Crouch End and East Finchley work brakes hard, and the dust settles straight onto front wheels and arches. Regular gentle washing keeps all of it from bonding.
